Jr. Road Show hit the road today for day two of their week-long mini tour of Greensboro and the the Northeast Kingdom. Junior Road Show, for campers ages 13-16, is patterned after our long-established Session V Road Show, is in its second year of providing community service while giving participants an authentic and sometimes intense performing experience. In both Road Shows a group of 10 selected campers create and rehearse a 30-minute themed show under the guidance of a Director and a variety of camp coaches. When it is rehearsed to perfection, the group performs the show throughout the local community throughout the second week of camp.
This year the show theme is “Sports Sports Sports” a topic selected by the group members from a list of possibles suggested by Director Suzanne Santos. The ensemble worked with coaches Crosby Sandoval, Kelsey Custard, Oriana Doria-Quesada and Pher Gleason to build the show over five days. The “plotline” uses juggling, acrobatics, contortion, and clowning to tell the story of a young man pressured into exploring sports. In the end he chooses to use his skill with music to help the athletes discover that everyone has a true talent within. The ten-member Road Show ensemble travel primarily to nursing homes and child care centers where they entertain and inspire audiences twice a day. On Friday the Road Show will perform for family and friends, sharing the show they have created.
Hup Hey!
