Yokefellows
Dear Smirkus Family and Friends,
Greetings from Keene, NH! We arrived in our sister state July, 10 and played six wonderful shows in Hanover, NH at the Fullington Farm Field. We had so many great Smirko family members, alumni, volunteers and board members that made this show special and I would like to take a minute to thank them. First, thank you to our incredible Hanover team of volunteers who poster, flyer, recruit volunteers and recruit homestays made up of Tamra Biedrzycki (parent of Trouper Dylan Biedrzycki) Rob Gurwitt and Karen Harris (parents of former Troupers Sam and Sonya Gurwitt) and Jim Zien (board member). In addition to those volunteers a special thank you so much to senior Trouper Liam Gundlach’s parents Leslie Carleton and Greg Gundlach who were also members of the Hanover team of volunteers (Leslie hung almost 350 posters in the Upper Valley!). In addition, they fixed hula hoops, volunteered at every single show and welcomed the entire Troupe into their home for relaxation and fun before and after our event at King Arthur Flour July, 10, which went amazing! About 200 folks showed up for a sneak preview of the 2015 Bon Appetit Tour and then circus tutorials with Troy and the Troupers.
As I mentioned above we also had three of our illustrious board members in attendance in Hanover, we had Vice President Miriam Rosenblum, Treasurer Jane Culbert and board member Jim Zien (who also made it out to KAF). Thank you Miriam, Jane and Jim for taking time out of your busy schedules to visit us on tour! Not to mention we had former Troupers Sonya Gurwitt, Sam Gurwitt and Doug Stewart help the house and spend time with Troupers as well as Liam Ryan-O’Flaherty’s sister, Katie Ryan-O’Flaherty help out, thanks guys!
It was also an exciting local site for the crew, we went swimming in the Connecticut River, got gelato in beautiful downtown Hanover and made wood-fired pizza’s at the Community Bread Oven in Norwich, VT.
We also had a birthday in our midst! Senior Trouper Sarah Tiffin turned 18, July, 12 and, of course, was pied in the face at our closing show on Sunday evening. Below is a video of all the fun and HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH!
‘till next time,
